Over all, I think this product is GOOD. I'm assuming they did this so no one could use the cable with any other device :). The computer is upstairs and the Samsung TV is downstairs, and in ordinary circumstances I would say that that could play a role in the bad wirelss connection, but everything else on my LAN is operating flawlessly even when it is downstairs in the same general location. Unfortunately because of the bad wireless service of the device, I've had to run a CAT 5 cable to the downstairs area. I also don't like the fact that you MUST use the MediaLive device with specific models of SAMSUNG TV's and ONLY Samsung TV's. There's always a BUT, right.
I don't know if it's the technology that Samsung chose to use or what, but the wireless connection could definately use some improvement. I tried to use it on other devices with HDMI connections, but it was a no go. Anyway, this product, in my opinion, is relatively decent, but there definately could be some improvements. My goodness, they even came up with their own HDMI cable. Hopefully Samsun will provide some updates to improve upon their device. The wireless portion could be better - not very good.
The other devices also have very good wireless connections even though they are downstairs, so I don't know.
Very cool accessing my pictures on my 52" LCD. Had trouble staying connected to wireless network at home even though signal strength was great. To fix this problem I changed my network wireless routers channel and haven't been dropped since.
save your money. Cannot use to play a DVD off your computer. What's the point.
Well priced, and a benfit to connecting to a Samsung screen because of the mounting plate availbe on the rear of the TV. It was a little "wierd" to connect, but easy enough, just make sure you go to the "source" in order to gain access to the extender.Thought I would be able to play DVDs from my PC but stangley enough that capability is not available. No need to spend more on other models. This product works as advertized. I connected to my Samsund LN52650A, to gain benefit of Anynet+ capability.
Also, doesn't support a whole host of streaming video content (windows media, RayV, etc), which you discover when you try to play video through proprietary services offered through WMC. Recently picked up the Samsung MediaLive Digital Media Adapter and have been using it on my Samsung 46A650 television for about three days. Using a third-party plugin for WMC, I was unable to get Netflix films to run.Overall, this unit has lots of potential, but I certainly hope that future software updates will provide better codec support. As for so called Netflix on-demand support.where is that. Does a nice job playing multimedia content (pictures/mpeg video) directly from my computer via a wireless connection and the interface is top notch (uses Windows Media Center). However, I'm very disapointed with the adapter's codec support. First off, it doesn't support flash - so forget about YouTube or.flv videos.
